The beauty of their designs, lightness of materials, and imagination and skill of their creators have made Kashmir shawls prized possessions. Highly coveted in Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries, their demand far exceeded their supply. The iconic paisley motif has become an immortal component of design vocabulary worldwide.
